Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Limited (“J&P”) was established in 1961 in Guernsey, Channel Islands. In following with the entrepreneurial spirit of its founders, who gained their experience from operating in the Cyprus construction market since 1941, J&P successfully completed its first overseas projects in Libya in the 1960s. J&P then took its next major step and expanded into the Arabian Gulf in the 1970s. During the subsequent decades, J&P played a leading role in the Arabian Gulf’s construction boom completing highways in all types of terrain, tunnels, bridges and flyovers, airports, housing schemes, palaces, luxury hotels, hospitals, universities, commercial buildings, sports and conference centres and complex military projects. This wealth of experience has allowed J&P to expand and solidify its position as one of the most capable and reliable international contractors operating today in the Middle East and North African region. During the 1980s, J&P utilised its growing reputation as a reliable international contractor as a platform to participate in oil & gas and power projects and to date has built up an impressive portfolio of successfully completed projects. To further develop J&P’s expertise in this sector J&P Energy and Industrial Projects SA was established to provide specialised services for bidding, design, procurement and project support services for oil and gas, energy and industrial projects. J&P entered the Greek market in 1979 and quickly completed several challenging projects to establish an excellent reputation and strong presence in Greece. Through several strategic mergers and acquisitions of reputable local contractors, J&P’s presence in Greece continues through J&P-Avax SA which holds revised top-class public works certification (7th class) and is listed on the Athens stock exchange. Today J&P-Avax SA is Greece's second largest construction group, has consolidated its leading position in the Greek market and is expanding into neighbouring Balkan states, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Electrical and Mechanical Expertise Acquired
On 1 January 2006, J&P wholly acquired two specialist electrical and mechanical contractors A&P Paraskevaides (Overseas) Ltd and Conspel Construction Specialists (Isle of Man) Ltd. These two companies have a long standing presence and strong reputation in the GCC region, a highly skilled workforce and an excellent client portfolio. Their acquisition allows J&P to supplement its current activities and expand its construction capability and expertise.

J&P is committed to being a leading international building, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering enterprise, with a strong involvement in the energy (oil and gas) and industrial sector.
